Happy Easter

Happy Easter! This is the best holiday of the year. I'm so glad that we celebrate Jesus Christ's resurrection!

Bubbles

Today, after we ate dinner, I took the kids outside and we played with bubbles. It was FUN. I blew bubbles and had them all over the place. Thomas kept saying "Whoah!" really loudly and running after the one bubble that stayed in the air the longest. Joanna helped blow bubbles too. She held the wand up to Thomas' mouth, but instead of blowing he attempted to eat it.

Joanna has been feeding the dogs. She carries the food all the way across the yard and dumps it into the dish. Today, there was some rain left in the bowl and I didn't walk all the way out with her this time. The dogs had a little "gravy" tonight. They didn't mind. It gave me a good opportunity to tell her that we like to make sure the bowl is clean first!

Thomas likes to get into the dog food and pick pieces out and throw them on the ground. Joanna liked the same thing at that age. It is funny how they are interested in the same things at similar age. Today, this was not that funny because I figured out the dogs bowl had water in it when I caught up with Thomas in the dog dish. Ew. He had dog food gravy on his hand!

It's not that I wasn't paying attention! Joanna can say "Watch this, Mommy!" and I turn my head and Thomas is off doing something else in 10 seconds. These kids are like lighting bolts.
Joanna's been doing a lot of the attention getting lately. She asks us to watch something she is doing such as hopping on one foot and jumping over things or tossing a ball. It's just something new and she wants us to see!

Thomas is starting to be really specific about things he wants. He can grab a banana off the counter by himself. He either beats it to a pulp or bites into it if you don't find him in time! He points to foods on our shelf that he wants to eat. He goes for the cups when he is thirsty. Or, of anyone's cup is near he goes for it. He loves this show "Little Einsteins" a series of cartoons made by the same producers of "Baby Einstein" movies. He gets engrossed in an episode You can't pull him away from it. I stop the DVD right after an episode ends or another one will start! He gets upset if you tear him away from it! It is a great show, but like anything...moderation must be applied!

It made sense to Joanna

It made sense to Joanna...then to me when she asked for a sandwich--a peanut butter sandwich, with white bread; but no peanut butter. She just wanted the bread.

God Wants us to Help Ourselves!

God calls us to action and rewards our initiative when it comes to impossible problems.

1. God calls us to action to take part in miracles happening in our own life.

God may ask you to do things that are impossible. It is your attempt to do that very thing that the miracle happens.

In Luke 6:10-11, Jesus says to a man with a crippled hand, "...'Hold out your hand.'
He held it out--it was as good as new!..."

Do you think the man would have been healed if had been unwilling to even try to hold out his hand? What if he was too ashamed to hold out his hand because it was ugly? What if he said, "No. I can do it myself!"? Do not let fear, pride, or any other sin of self-centeredness keep you from God's miracles.

2. Jesus rewards initiative!

Luke 5:12-13 tells of the time Jesus entered a village, a man covered with leprosy approached Jesus. "When he saw Jesus he fell down before him in prayer and said, 'If you want to, you can cleanse me.' Jesus put out his hand, touched him and said 'I want to. Be clean." Then and there his skin was smooth, the leprosy gone."

Go to him boldly and humbly to ask those good things you desire from your heart!

A Song for my Children

I wrote this song while playing with Thomas in the backyard on February 19th.
It is for both my children. I love them so much and I want them to know how much God loves them.

Joanna has a "new" Ariel

Joanna filled in the last spot on her potty training sticker chart yesterday
and got a new Ariel doll for her progress. I filled in the chart with her name and took a picture of her with her chart and new doll. I'm very proud of her progresss!

Shedding Pounds

I must have stepped on and off the scale five times this morning. I can hardly belive my recent weight loss. It's official. 10 pounds are gone. I don't know where they went, but I'm sure they found a home somewhere else. It has been really encouraging to see the pounds tick off and feel my body change.
